CHAMBERLAIN — The Miller boys’ cross country team qualified for the state meet by winning the Region 4A championship on Thursday in Chamberlain.
The Rustlers finished with 31 points to edge Todd County for the top spot by four points. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte was third at 40, followed by Wagner at 55, Winner at 76, Mount Vernon-Plankinton at 100 and Mobridge-Pollock at 111.
Cole Sargent was the top finisher for Miller. He was second with a time of 16 minutes, 55 seconds.
Dillon Jacoby of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte won the varsity boys’ race in 16:48.
Mason Breitling was fifth for the Rustlers at 17:03, while Trey Waldrop was 11th at 17:54.
Rounding out the lineup for Miller were JC Forman, who was 18th at 18:42; Hunter Russell, who was 23rd at 19:05; and Lucas Simpson, who was 27th at 19:25.
Mount Vernon-Plankinton won the Region 4A girls’ title.
Miller did not have any runners in the varsity girls’ race.
