Area teams win at Hanson Classic

MITCHELL — Three area boys’ basketball teams recorded victories on Saturday during the Hanson Classic in Mitchell

Sanborn Central edged Centerville 56-55, Clark-Willow Lake defeated Chamberlain 65-38 and James Valley Christian recorded a 47-36 victory against Langford.

Tucker Kingsbury had 22 points to lead Sanborn Central-Woonsocket to the victory. Davion Brooks and Dillon Moore added 12 points each.

Seamus O’Malley had a game-high 26 points for Centerville, while Josh DeRaad added 15 points.

Tyson Jenkings had 28 points to lead Clark-Willow Lake past Chamberlain.

Mitch Prouty had 14 points, while Rory Forest added nine points.

Skyler Bertram and Reuben Estes led Chamberlain with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

James Valley Christian trailed 15-3 after the opening quarter, but outscored Langford 10-3 in the second quarter to slice its deficit to 18-13 at the half.

The Vikings took control in the third quarter by putting up 21 points comparted to just seven for Langford.

Jayden Waldner had 19 points to lead JVC, while Alex Waldner and Andrew Ulvestad had eight and seven points, respectively.

Bo Fries was the lone player to reach double figures for Langford with 18 points.

Sully Buttes 56, Hitchcock-Tulare 49

TULARE — Scott Senftner had five of the nine 3-pointers for Sully Buttes in a 56-49 victory against Hitchcock-Tulare on Friday.

Senftner finished with 19 points to lead the Chargers, while Lewis Hofer had 10 points.

Landon Gatzke converted on four 3-pointers en route to 15 points for the Patriots. Tyler Oechsle had 13 points, while Trevor Hofer added nine points.

Chase Bixler grabbe a team-high 10 rebounds and had eight assists for Hitchcock-Tulare, while Gatzke and Trevor Hofer each had two steals.

TULARE — Four of the five starters reached double figures, as Sully Buttes cruised to an 82-27 victory against Hitchcock-Tulare on Friday.

Karlea Stahl had 17 points to lead the Lady Chargers, while Remi Wientjes had 16 points. Chloe Lamb and Kayla Nelson added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Taylor Knippling was the lone player to reach double figures for the Lady Patriots with 13 points. She also had a team-high five rebounds.

Saige Peterson had two assists for Hitchcock-Tulare.
