Sanborn Central-Woonsocket cruises past No. 5 Hanson

ALEXANDRIA — Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, which opened the season with seven straight victories before suffering back-to-back losses in the 281 Conference Tournament, recored a 52-37 victory against Class B’s fifth-ranked Hanson on Tuesday.

The Blackhawks, who improved to 9-2, led 16-12 after the opening quarter and then outscored the Beavers 21-2 in the second quarter to lead 37-14 at the half.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket maintained its sizeable advantage the rest of the way, as it carried a 45-25 lead into the final quarter.

Tucker Kingsbury led the way for the Blackhawks with 14 points, while Dillon Moore and Brady Tiede added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Tiede also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds for Sanborn Central-Woonsocket.

Sam Vander Stouwe led Hanson (10-3) with 13 points, while Taylor Nichols had nine rebounds.

The Blackhawks return to action Friday with a 281 Conference matchup in Wessington Springs.

Andes Central 59, Wessington Springs 58

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Andes Central escaped with a 59-58 victory against Wessington Springs on Monday.

Zach Cournoyer had 14 points to lead four players in double figures for the Eagles, who improved to 4-7. Aaron Swanson had 12 points, while Chris Bad Hand and Brian Bruguier both finished with 10 points.

Jase Kraft netted a game-high 21 points for the Spartans, who are now 3-8. Jevon Hohn had 14 points, while Zachary Paulson and Nicolas Paulson each had seven points.

Zachary Paulson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Wessington Springs, while Braden Jones had four assists.

The Spartans will host Sanborn Central-Woonsocket in a 281 Conference matchup on Friday.

MILLER — Despite being outscored 21-14 in the second half, Sunshine Bible Academy held on for a 42-26 victory against Wolsey-Wessington in the 281 Conference matchup on Tuesday.

Tricia Wilken led the Lady Crusaders with a game-high 20 points, while Rebekah Konechne had nine points.

Cassie Beckwith had 16 rebounds to help SBA to a 44-41 edge on the boards, while Wilken also grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with four assists and five steals. Sarah Pedersen recorded 10 blocks.

Meagan Eggleston led Wolsey-Wessington with 15 points, while Bailey Zerfoss also reached double figures with 10 points. Brittany Bergquist had 10 rebounds, while Sidney Carey had five steals.
