HURON Sioux Falls West erupted for a 20-1 victory in the opening game of a teener baseball doubleheader against Huron Signature Plus on Tuesday at Klock Field.

Other details or results from the second game were not available at press time.

In its previous outing, Signature Plus was swept by Pierre in a doubleheader on Friday.

Pierre needed just four innings to record a 17-2 victory in the opening game of the twinbill.

Diontay Phillips started on the mound for Huron and was relieved by Cooper Fryberger.

Phillips led Signature Plus offensively, with two hits, including a double, and scored both runs.

Pierre collected the sweep with a 19-13 win in the second game.

Michael Waldner was the starting pitcher for Huron, with Dillon Kouf and Alex Hill working in relief.

Spencer Peterson was perfect in three trips to the plate for Signature Plus, with a double and three runs scored. Phillips had three hits, while Hill had a triple and double to finish with five RBIs. Dawson Berg and Jacob Bich each had a pair of hits.

Signature Plus, will host Aberdeen in a doubleheader at 5 p.m. today at Klock Field.


MITCHELL Huron Sertoma used a doubleheader sweep against Mitchell on Thursday to improve to 9-5.

Huron inked a 1-0 victory in the opening game behind a complete-game performance on the mound by Jett McGirr. He allowed just two hits through seven innings in the shutout.

Marcus Klein went the distance on the mound for Sertoma, which won 9-5 in the second game.

Huron was scheduled to travel to Pierre for a doubleheader on Tuesday. Results from those games were unavailable at press time.

Next up for Sertoma is a doubleheader against the Pierre Black Sox at 5 p.m. Friday at Klock Field.
