The Redfield Area Concert Association’s 2010-11 membership drive began this week and will run through Aug. 23.

Another season of musical entertainment comes to Redfield beginning with the Marlins. These four brothers specialize in a variety of music blending more than 20 instruments with vocal harmony and humor. The Marlins will perform Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The Benny Goodman Songbook will present its program of jazz Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. This performance features acclaimed clarinetist Allan Vache, with pianist Mark Shane and jazz singer Terry Blaine. This show will spotlight the great female vocalists from the Goodman band, including Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald, with songs like “Tiger Rag,” “Lulu’s Back in Town,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” “Jeepers Creepers” and “Why Don’t You Do Right.”

The third show of the season will feature Edgar Cruz on the guitar. Cruz was raised in an atmosphere of Latin/mariachi music. In 2009, his “Bohemian Rhapsody” video received more than 9 million hits on YouTube. His concert will include music from Bach and Beethoven to the Beatles, big band and Irving Berlin. The performance will be Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Brett Family Singers will perform May 13 at 7:30 p.m. The Bretts are known for their harmonies, but the performers also are talented soloists. This variety show of song and dance includes classic favorites from the 1930s to the present as well as country, gospel and a cappella pieces.

The Redfield Area Concert Association membership is open to the public. Also, membership in the Redfield Area Concert Association entitles one to attend performances scheduled in Huron and Pierre during the season. All performances are held in the auditorium of the S.D. Developmental Center in Redfield. The facility is handicapped accessible.
