Hands of Hope Ministry to give food away in Huron Oct. 27

Posted: Monday, Oct 8th, 2012

Hands of Hope Ministry Illinois is coming to Huron on Oct. 27, with two semi-loads of food that will be given away at Huron Church of the Open Bible parking lot, 311 Riverside Dr. N.E.

This will be a drive-through event with volunteers handing out boxes of food. The Rev. Dean Lindstad invites all those in need to come out. The event will begin at 10 a.m. There will be ministers on hand to take prayer requests and hand out free copies of the New Testament in different languages.

Anyone who has a need is encouraged to stop by.

Hands of Hope of Illinois is a ministry focused on feeding the needy since 1996. The ministry has grown from using trailers for food storage to its first warehouse that can store up to 20 truckloads of food. The ministry gives away more than 90,000 pounds of food a week to those in need.

Everything is assembled in the warehouse in Joliet, Ill., and is sent out as needs arise. While some goods are sent out of the United States, Hands of Hope sends more than 90 percent of goods received to Americans. In many instances they find many hungry Americans have been overlooked by government entities and large food ministries.

South Dakota is one of 10 states to receive deliveries of food through the Hands of Hope ministry.
