HURON — The Huron High School oral interp team came home from this weekend’s State AA Oral Interp Festival with four superiors and the coveted Team Excellence Award.

Earning superiors for the Tigers were junior Maddy Klein in Duet Interpretation and Poetry; junior Maddy Gohn in Duet Interpretation; senior Sarahi Luna in Dramatic Reading; and senior Paul Christenson in Humorous Reading. To receive the Team Excellence Award, a team must earn a superior rating in four of the seven categories. Klein was a double winner for Huron.

“It was an excellent festival,” said coach Angie Klein. “Our kids worked so hard these past two weeks to prepare for this weekend. As coaches, we are thrilled to see their hard work pay off.”

The oral interp and debate teams will be back in action this Saturday at Sioux Falls Roosevelt competing in the first of three legs of the Central Forensics Conference Tournament. Huron has placed first or second in the CFC for the last 26 years.

The oral interp and debate teams are coached by Klein, Laura Hoek and head coach Mitch Gaffer.
