Next, the American Lutheran Church Christian Learning Center Preschoolers had Hawaii day on Friday. Back row, from left are, Ally Hohm, Mason Jurgens, Brady Meyer, Riley Winegar, Carson Walters, Trisdon Larson, Maryjo Sher, Jeselyn Matthews, Maisyn Peskey and Reece Krutzfeldt; and in front, Carson Kolousek, Rebecca Huizenga, Elin Schoenhard, Damarion Anderson, Marissa Ready, Ethan Kahre, Kenzington Taylor, Destiny Rittel and Hope Rittel. Teachers and volunteers at the Christian Learning Center worked hard to make Hawaii day a successful adventure. At 9 a.m. the students boarded a pretend bus to the airport. There they checked in their luggage, consisting of paper suitcases, and boarded the plane. After landing, the class opened the door to their classroom, which had been transformed. The pre-schoolers, who were dressed in summer wear and leis, visited a beach volleyball station, a Hawaiian store, a pool with water to “get their feet wet,” and a sandbox beach. The kids learned how to open a coconut and pineapple, and got to taste the coconut juice. Then, after story time, they boarded their plane and went back home.
