Huron natives Joe Mahowald and Stanford Felix will bring their extraordinary talents to the stage of the Fine Arts Center on Saturday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m., joining the Huron Symphony Orchestra in an evening of Broadway favorites and light opera classics.
The concert will include Broadway melodies and show tunes from “South Pacific,” “The Music Man,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miz,” and “Jekyll and Hyde,” to name a few.
Mahowald, who lives in New York City, has appeared in a number of Broadway productions and national tours. He appeared on Broadway in Boublil & Schonberg’s The Pirate Queen, and previously starred on Broadway in the title roles of Jekyll and Hyde, Javert and Enjolras in Les Miz.
Stan Felix lives in Minneapolis and is the founder and artistic director of the Minnesota Concert Opera. Their spouses, Elizabeth Mahowald and Antonia Felix, are also gifted performers and will be featured as well.
There will even be a surprise appearance or two which will be sure to delight the audience. The symphony is directed by Robert Vodnoy.
Admission is by Huron Symphony season ticket or single admission ticket. Single admission tickets are available at American Bank and Trust. Because seating is limited, there will be no free admission for children under the age of 18. For more information, contact Pat Erickson at 352-7154.
