HHS Marching Band and Orchestra perform in Disneyland parade

Posted: Monday, Mar 18th, 2013

CONTRIBUTED The Huron High School Marching Band is pictured at Disney Performing Arts, and the next photo shows the HHS Orchestra. The groups traveled to Los Angeles earlier this month to march in the parade at Disneyland.

Huron High School Marching Band and Orchestra recently completed their bi-annual music trip to Los Angeles.

The group of 104 students and 13 adults left Huron at 6 a.m. March 2 and returned on March 8.

The Huron Marching Band led Mickey’s Soundsational Parade, the nighttime parade at Disneyland to an estimated audience of 15,000-20,000 people. The Huron Orchestra also participated in a Disney Performing Arts event, as they experienced a recording session on a Disney sound stage. This resulted in a DVD of the “Lion King” opening sequence with the Huron High School Orchestra performing the music.

While on the trip the group also visited Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Olivera Street (where the students found themselves at an active commercial shoot for a Verizon commercial), the Farmers Market, The Grove, the LaBrea Tar Pits, explored Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and swam in the Pacific Ocean at Redondo Beach. An added bonus was a short drive on historic Route 66.
