Ashley Hall to present trumpet recital at SBA

Posted: Monday, Apr 8th, 2013

Ashley Hall

Sunshine Bible Academy will host trumpeter Ashley Hall for a recital at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12. The recital is free and open to the public. Hall will perform a selection of sacred and classical pieces, and will be accompanied by SBA pianists Craig Brockel and Kevin Waller.

Hall has held the position of principal trumpet with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and is in constant demand as a solo artist. Hall has been applauded by critics for her “soaring and spine-tingling” performances and her “excellent stage presence.” Her extensive performance credentials as a soloist and orchestral musician have taken her around the world. From the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., to the Opera House in Sydney, Australia, she has dazzled audiences with her virtuosic technique and expressive tone, being described as “pure magic to hear.”

In June, Hall will be featured as a soloist with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Her passion for making music is paralleled by a dedication and commitment to teaching and arts advocacy. She maintains an active private trumpet studio out of her home in Rochester, Minn., she gives master classes at high schools and universities around the world, and has been on the faculty at the Lutheran Summer Music Festival since the summer of 2012.

While living in Ohio, she was on the faculty at the University of Dayton and was active in educational outreach through the Muse Machine and the Dayton Philharmonic’s SPARK program. “Art and Music: Making the Connection,” a program she developed with her husband, trumpeter Nathan Tighe, teaches students about important events in history and how they have influenced the development of art and music.

Hall will be conducting master classes at SBA during the day on Friday. Any music teachers or students interested in participating should contact SBA music director Kevin Waller at 605-853-3071.

More information on the concert is available at www.sunshinebible.org.

Sunshine Bible Academy is a non-denominational Christian school located south of Miller. Currently SBA students come from six different states and three foreign countries.
