Healthy Huron introduces the Pursuit of a Healthy Huron challenge to help area residents improve their wellness and win great prizes, including a grand prize of $250 in Huron Bucks.

This three-month challenge will help you and your family learn all the aspects of wellness and what Huron already offers to help you get and stay healthy.

The official game play starts on July 1 and ends Sept. 30. Participants will earn “Healthy Huron points” by exercising a minimum of 15 minutes, and bonus points throughout the challenge for activities which connect to at least one of the seven Dimensions of Wellness (emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual).

Examples include starting a new book, attending a worship service or participating in Huron’s recycling program.

There is no cost to participate and registrants will receive a welcome kit with a monthly calendar listing some of the available bonus point activities and wellness activities available through sponsoring organizations.

To add to the fun, weekly prizes will be awarded along with monthly Huron Buck drawings for participants submitting point logs. If you want to get moving, balanced, real, passionate, educated, cultured, healthy, happy, informed, connected, green, centered, social — then the Pursuit of a Healthy Huron is for you!

To register, visit www.healthyhuron.com and learn more about the challenge, or e-mail healthyhuron@gmail.com. You can also pick up a registration form at Carr Chiropractic Clinic.

Healthy Huron Committee also encourages businesses to hold their own challenges during the pursuit. You could offer incentives to your employees to participate, a healthy employee is a happy more productive employee.

Sponsorship opportunities are available to provide incentives to the participants during the challenge. Sponsors will be able to provide participants with information about their business and information about group exercise or other activities which support the 7 dimensions of wellness. If you would like to be a sponsor, e-mail healthyhuron@gmail.com.

Current sponsors include Carr Chiropractic Clinic, Sunshine Fitness and Yoga, Huron Public School Wellness Team.

The group would like to promote area activities that provide opportunities for the citizens of Huron to achieve well-rounded, 7 dimensional holistic health. If you are hosting an event and would like to add an activity to the challenge, email healthyhuron@gmail.com and submit your activity for consideration.
