The top two finalists in Curves’ Complete 90-Day Challenge revealed their new looks during the SD Women’s Expo on Sept. 28 on the S.D. State Fairgrounds.

Heather Kopecky and Jennifer Fuchs, who began their 90-day challenge on July 8, were introduced by JoLynne Parmely, owner of Curves in Huron. The challenge included weekly one-on-one weight loss coaching sessions, weekly menu planning, exercise four times a week or more on the circuit, 10,000 steps daily and the support of women in the Curves family. Participants were weighed weekly and measured monthly.

The finalists, who lost a combined 28.5 pounds and 31.5 inches, were treated to a little pampering to top off their new healthier bodies. Lori Heller of The Mirror provided hairstyling for each of the winners, while Denise Matson of Mary Kay gave them a fresh cosmetic look. Kopecky and Fuchs also received an autographed copy of Frank Fontana’s book, Dirty Little Secrets of Design, and a bouquet of flowers from Walkers Flower Shop.

Parmely kicked off the unveiling in the Women’s Building Auditorium by sharing her own personal weight-loss journey as she has lost 24.5 pounds since March following the Curves Complete program. She then invited other challenge participants on stage to share the lessons they learned during their 90-day journey. Next, the finalists shared the most important healthy-living habits they learned. 2012 Curves 90-Day Challenge Winner Joan Russell then joined the finalists to announce Kopecky as the 2013 winner. As this year’s Curves’ Complete 90-Day Challenge winner, Kopecky also received a free year membership at Curves valued at more than $600.

The 90-Day Challenge program is available to anyone in the community who wants to participate –— either on their own, or with friends. The program includes a starter kit of supplements and meal replacement shakes, weekly personalized coaching sessions by certified nutrition and exercise coaches, weekly menu planning and unlimited exercise on the circuit for 90 days.

In celebration of October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, Curves is also offering free sign-up fees for women who have had their yearly mammogram. For more information on either program, call 352-0900 or stop by the Huron Curves club, located in the Huron Mall near Kmart.
