A Piano Extravaganza, sponsored by Huron Area Music Teachers Association, will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Fine Arts Center.
A total of 11 groups, nearly one hundred music students from fourth grade through seniors, will be participating. In seven of the groups, two students at each instrument will play the same duet at the same time. The other four groups will feature one pianist at each instrument, creating an ensemble experience as each student plays a different part that will only sound complete when played together.
Beth Neitzert and Geri Peterson are co-directors of the extravaganza. Batchelder’s Plummer Piano and Organ of Rapid City will be providing the pianos for this event.
In addition to the orchestra of pianos, the “VioTars,” a group that blends violin and guitar students, will add a touch of bluegrass to the program. The evening will conclude with a pair of duets by the piano teachers, with Hans Peterson directing.
Participating teachers include Beverly Bigge, Eric Bliss, Laurie Hamm, Beth Neitzert, Geri Peterson, Brenda Ruedebusch and Barb Valer.
A nominal fee will be charged for adults while students 18 and younger are admitted free. The public is cordially invited to attend. For the complete article see the 10-20-2013 issue.
