In November, through an article in the Plainsman, American Lutheran Church Women asked for the community’s support of a church mission project. The response from organizations and individuals in the Huron area, as well as members of ALC, was truly amazing. Because of your generosity, more than 130 children in grades one through 12 living in the Sicangu Owayawa Oti Dormitory on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota were able to receive Christmas gifts. A heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one who donated items or gave monetary gifts toward this mission. The money donated was used to purchase gifts from local Huron stores. All the gifts were delivered to the dormitory prior to Christmas. The staff there was overwhelmed at what had been done for the youth & are so very thankful. For several, these were the only gifts they received. What a joy it is to live in such a caring community where, if people know there is a need, they respond and give from the heart.
