For his selfless volunteerism with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Henry Hanten of Huron is being recognized by Cabot Creamery Cooperative, a New England and upstate New York farm-family owned dairy cooperative widely known as the makers of the “World’s Best Cheddar.”

Hanten and his wife, Sandra, will join honorees from across the country on a Cabot Celebrity Cruise from Jan. 11 to 18.

Hanten works on fundraisers for the hospital. He started doing radiothons in Minneapolis, and he’s been at it for 21 years.

He is a volunteer coordinator and trains other volunteers. He takes calls and answers questions, staffs the pledge desk and does whatever is needed to make the promotion work.

The Hantens will join more than 40 other altruistic individuals and their guests on the all-expense-paid South Caribbean cruise honoring them for the volunteer work they do in their communities.

Community celebrities will be flown from their hometowns and board the cruise ship in Puerto Rico, with stops in Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten and St. Thomas.
