Kathleen Mary Quinn, 58, of Howard died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center after a short battle with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard. Burial with military rites by the Nels Pederson Post 145 will be at 10 a.m. in Belleview Lutheran Church Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will begin Sunday at 7 p.m. at the church with the family.
Kathleen Austreim was born at Madison Jan. 10, 1952, to Orrin and Margaret Austreim. She graduated from Howard High School in 1970. She trained as a licensed practical nurse and earned degrees in behavioral science and as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse and currently was a certified case manager for Dakota Care Insurance Company in Sioux Falls.
She served in the Army for seven years in the 1970s at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind. She moved to Chicago in 1982. She married Paul Quinn Jr. July 23, 1983, at Howard. They lived in Chicago. She moved back to Howard in September 2007.
She was active in the American Legion Post 145, Miner County Republicans and Beach United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Kyle (Nicole) and Kevin, all of Chicago; her parents of Howard; a brother, Doug (Cheryl) of Brookings; a sister, Peggy (Tim) Clarke of Howard; four stepchildren, Bridget (Eddie) Diversey, Paul Quinn III, Patrick (Jacki) Quinn and Phillip Quinn, all of Chicago; and 11 grandchildren.
