LeAlma T. Thompson, 84, of Hartley, Iowa, and formerly of Willow Lake died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Hartley.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vienna with the Rev. Dave Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery, rural Vienna. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are with Osthus Funeral Home of De Smet.

LeAlma T. Balogh was born Jan. 27, 1926, to Steve and Engel (Meester) Balogh at Willow Lake. She graduated from Willow Lake High School and attended college in Madison and Spearfish. She taught in Hazel and Pleasant Township.

She married Orville Thompson Sept. 28, 1947, at Willow Lake. They farmed in the Willow Lake-Vienna area until 2005. She was active in Pleasant and Bethlehem Lutheran churches in the choir, ladies aid, quilting group and as an organist. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Witty Wives Extension Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, square dancing and music.

She is survived by three children, Kendal (Janice) of Everly, Iowa, Patty (Roger) Wilkening of Sioux Falls and Sharry (Roger) Knock of De Smet; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Glenn) Green of Pierre, Dorothy (Virgil) Grimm of Madison and Darlene (Steve) Buck of Findlay, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Kenneth.
