Earl Scott, 93, of Wessington died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller.
His funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial in Wessington Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Welter Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service. Visit www.welterfuneralhome.com.
Earl F. Scott was born April 24, 1917, at Wagner to Fred and Lucy (Martin) Scott. He graduated from Wagner High School.
He married Mildred Syring Feb. 10, 1941, at Sioux Falls. They lived for one year in Corvallis, Ore., where he worked for Bell Telephone and as a taxi driver. They returned to Wessington in 1942 to begin farming. He was elected to the Wessington School Board and Wessington Township Board. He was a member of the Huron Elks Lodge 444 for more than 50 years. He loved to fish and camp on the Missouri River at South Whitlock.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Mark (Peg) of Wessington; a daughter, Sharon (Darwin) Johansen of Worthington, Minn.; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Martin (Margaret); a sister, Leola (Lester) Kane; and a grandchild.
