MILLER — Both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams from Redfield-Doland won titles on Monday during the Miller Invitatioinal.
Redfield-Doland finished with 16 points to top the standings in the boys’ division, with Aberdeen Roncalli finishing second at 23. Miller was third at 33, followed by De Smet at 37 and Stanley County at 52.
Jase Kraft of Wessington Springs ran away with the individual championship in the boys’ division, finishing nearly two minutes in front of the rest of the field. He had a winning time of 16 minutes, 23.57 seconds.
Donnie Decker of James Valley Christian was second at 18:07.81, followed by John Noyes of Redfield-Doland at 18:13.15. Jordan Houdek of Highmore-Harrold was fourth at 18:20.61, followed by Brady Chase of Redfield-Doland at 18:27.58 and Mason Breitling of Miller at 18:59.67.
Redfield-Doland had five runners inside of the top 10 to easily claim the girls’ title with 10 points. James Valley Christian claimed second with 26 points, while Aberdeen Roncalli was third at 32. Rounding out the top five were Potter County at 41 and Highmore-Harrold at 48.
Nicolette Schmidt of Redfield-Doland turned in a winning time of 15:28.53 in the girls’ varsity race, with Charley Gross of JVC finishing second at 15:56.14.
Redfield-Doland teammates Chloe Edgar and Katie Klapperich were fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 16:45.96 and 16:55.29. Others finishing in the top 10 for the Pheasants were Kate Gillette and Tana Muellenberg in seventh and eighth, respectively, at 17:04.54 and 17:04.78.
Mallory Johnson of James Valley Christian also turned in a top-10 finish with a time of 17:31.
Tierra Decker of JVC won the girls’ junior varsity race in 12:34.65.
Trent Traversie of Crow Creek won the JV boys’ race, with a time of 10:58.72.
