WOONSOCKET — Paul “Wahoo” Knigge, 78, of Woonsocket, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket.
His funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be today at Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket from 5 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service at 7 p.m.
Paul Louis Knigge was born Nov. 19, 1933, to Henry and Marcella (Kemptner) Knigge in Jerauld County. He grew up on the family farm in Jerauld County where he lived and farmed most of his life. He attended Budde School. In 2005 he moved to an apartment in Woonsocket and then became a resident of Prairie View Care Center in 2010. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by two sisters, Ila Burke of Burnsville, Minn., and Norma Knigge of Sioux Falls; a brother, Charles (Myrna) of Woonsocket; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Nelsen, Patricia Knigge and Jeannie Knigge; a brother-in-law, Gordon Kogel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, Raymond and Bob; two sisters, Mary Kogel and Mavis Steichen; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Burke and Carl Steichen.
