Warbirds, Patriots record victories

HIGHMORE The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds put up 33 points in the opening quarter en route to a 50-0 victory against Highmore-Harrold on Friday in a 281 Conference football matchup.

Ryne Johnson racked up 163 yards rushing on three carries to lead the Warbirds, while Roy Lumpkin had five carries for 132 yards.

Lorenzo Williams completed his lone pass for Wolsey-Wessington, netting 53 yards.

Cole McGehee led the defensive effort for the Warbirds with seven tackles, while Hayden Hooks and Williams had six and four tackles, respectively.

Colton Reed had 34 of the 40 yards rushing for Highmore-Harrold on five carries. Marshall McCloud finished with 13 yards on two carries.

McCloud and Tristan Ashdown each had three tackles for the Pirates, while Jason Brueggeman had three stops.

Hitch-Tulare 42, W/WS/SC 6

HITCHCOCK Dan Marshall had three touchdowns to lead Hitchcock-Tulare to a 42-6 victory against Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central on Friday.

Marshall scored on runs of one, 40 and 73 yards for the Patriots, who improved to 4-2.

Cole Chaplin added touchdowns on runs of four and 10 yards for Hitchcock-Tulare, while Clay Jens scored on a 1-yard run.

The Patriots had 426 yards rushing on 50 carries. Marshall led the way with 181 yards on 14 carries, while Chaplin had 155 yards on 18 carries.

Marshall was 3 of 9 passing for 33 yards.

Defensively, Jens had six tackles, while John Schultz, Will Fisher and Trevor Hofer all had five tackles for the Patriots. Spruce Bushong and Fisher each had two sacks.

Trevor Easton had the lone touchdown for W/WS/SC on a 51-yard run. He finished with a team-high 96 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Todd Stekl gained 61 yards through the air on 5 of 14 passing. Jevon Hohn had two catches for 42 yards.

Blake Messmer led the Blackhawks defensively, with 10 tackles.
