WOONSOCKET — The Highmore-Harrold Pirates defeated the James Valley Christian School Lady Vikings 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 to win the 281 Conference Volleyball title Saturday evening.
The game-winning point came on at ace serve by Lizzy Buchholz.
The Pirates were led by Tyann Hamlin, who had 16 kills along with being perfect on four blocks and one solo block.
Defensively, Tierny Hamlin was 5-of-6 blocking with a solo block.
Setting up the attack was McKenzee Zilverberg who had 26 assists and was 87-of-87 on her attempts. She also was 18-of-19 on serves with three aces.
For the Lady Vikings Jacklyn Loban recorded 27 kills while converting all but three of her 66 attacks.
Tara Nihart had a perfect night setting on all 148 of her attempts which led to 27 assists.
Defensively, Leslie Brondsema had four blocks while Loban and Ariana Zuccaro had 29 and 28 digs, respectively.
Kristin Williams had a game-high five aces.
In the back row Buchholz recorded 43 digs in 53 attempts.

Lady Blackhawks take third at 281 tourney
The Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Lady Blackhawks used an explosive third set to capture the third-place title at the 281 Conference Tournament over Wolsey-Wessington.
The Blackhawks won 3-1 with the scores being 25-17, 20-25, 25-5 and 25-17.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket pulled away with an explosive third set where they won 25-5.
The Lady Blackhawks had four different players record 10 kills in the match.
They were led by Rachel Selland who had 16 kills, followed by Morgan Larson and Marissa Weber who each had 12. Morgan Selland rounded out the quartet with 10.
Candace Page-Marten set up the attack compiling 27 assists while she also had five aces.
Defensively, Rachelle Moore had 21 digs.
For the Lady Warbirds Brittany Bergquist led the team with five kills, converting all but two of her attacks.
Bailey Zerfoss and Meagan Eggleston each had four kills, missing on just two of their 19 attacks, respectively.
Monica Hentzi had five assists setting up the Wolsey-Wessington attack while she was perfect on 51 sets.
Defensively, Berquist had three blocks and Zerfoss had two, while in the back row Ashley Eggleston had 14 digs and Berquist had 13.
From the service line Hentzi had a pair of aces and converted 10-of-11 attempts.
