WOONSOCKET — Dorothy Peterson, 91, of Woonsocket, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket with the Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Inurnment will be in Eventide Cemetery at Woonsocket. A visitation with the family will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorothy Heller was born Aug. 15, 1921, at Harrison, Neb., to Adolph and Clara Heller. They moved to Wyoming when she was 7, where she grew up on a ranch. She attended high school in Torrington, Neb.
On March 21, 1941, she married Alfred Peterson in Neligh, Neb., and they lived in South Dakota, Wyoming and Kansas. They farmed in the Wolsey, Alpena and Woonsocket areas. She worked for Van Dyke Supply for 35 years. She loved to bake and prepare big meals at her home.
She is survived by six sons, LeRoy (Myrna) of Woonsocket, Marvin (Kong) of Brookings, Larry (Robin) of Pierre, Duane (Fran) of Woonsocket, Rickey (Pat) of Woonsocket and Mark of Woonsocket; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Maureen Revelle; a son-in-law, Bill Revelle; a brother; and six sisters. For the complete article see the 10-02-2012 issue.
