HURON — Pumpkins, recipes and pork! Harvest Fest is looking for the best!
Have a recipe that contains pumpkin you think could win you some cash? Think you can roast up pork with the best of them? Well, if so — the Huron Young Professionals challenge you to come out to the Harvest Fest this weekend at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.
Harvest Fest will begin with porkbutt cook-off registration from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Younger Park, west of the Family Living Center. The top three winners will be walking with $200, $100 and $50 prizes.
Judging for the pork cook-off will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, between the James River Bluegrass Band and Exit 357 on the stage in the Family Living Center.
Saturday will also include the Pumpkin Recipe Contest. The only rule is that food entries must contain pumpkin as an ingredient.
Bring your entry, with recipe attached, to the Family Living Center between 1 to 2 p.m. to be judged. Each dish will be assigned a number for judging. Judging will finish at 2 p.m. and awards will follow.

The porkbutt cookoff and pumpkin recipe contest are organized by Huron Young Professionals, South Dakota State Fair and Center for Independence.
