MILLER — Ruth Robertson, 89, of Miller, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Highmore Health.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Miller with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunbeam Cemetery, rural Miller. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Ruth Olive Ashdown was born March 7, 1923, near Highmore to Walter and Sadie (Hale) Ashdown. She graduated from Highmore High School and Aberdeen School of Business. She was employed at Barnes and Gray Abstract Company and the First State Bank of Highmore.
On June 20, 1946, she married William Robertson. They farmed in Hand County. He died in 1950. She was a secretary at Miller High School from 1967-91. She was a member of Sunbeam and Wheaton churches, P.E.O. Chapter AK and was a nominee for the Spirit of Dakota award. She loved photography and needlework.
She is survived by two children, John (Carol) of Sioux Falls and Margaret (Rick) Meek of Rapid City; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Gusaas of Valley City, N.D.; two brothers, Carl (Lily) and Leslie (Elaine), all of Highmore; and a sister-in-law, Lois Robertson of St. Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Hugh and Glen; a sister-in-law, Nola; and two brothers-in law, Milford Gusaas and Bob Robertson.
