Jean E. West, 93, of Lakewood, Calif.

LAKEWOOD, Calif. Jean E. West, 93, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Lakewood.

Burial was in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at San Diego, Calif.

Jean E. Booze was born Dec. 19, 1918, to James and Olive Booze on a farm southeast of Redfield. She moved to California in 1936. She worked in a photo processing business in San Fernando, Calif.

She married Valentine Weiler who was killed during World War II. She moved back to Redfield and married William West in 1947 at Rapid City. They moved to California and he died in 1959. She began working at G.I. Collins and retired in 1987. In 1972 she partnered with John Bebeau, who died in 1990. She enjoyed camping, square dancing and sewing. She owned Western Industrial Draperies and made and sold doll furniture and angel music boxes.

She is survived by three children, Patricia (Keith) Clowers of Washington, Michael (Debra) West of California, Colleen (George) Bryan of California and Kathleen (Brian) Bowden; a brother, Harold (Joan) of Redfield; five sisters, Evelyn Grayson and Grace Davis, both of Fresno, Calif., Carol (Jerry) Jessen of Norfolk, Neb., Patricia (Jack) Weiss of Hot Springs and Shirley (Ken) Gilbert of Redfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands; a son, William West; two grandsons; a sister, Kathryn Paradee; and four brothers, Wesley, Dwayne, Bob and Raymond.
