HURON — With four precincts still to be counted in the District 22 legislative races as of press time, incumbent Rep. Jim White, R-Huron, was leading his Democratic opponent, Chris Studer of Huron, for a seat in the state Senate.
The margin was 54 percent to 46 percent.
In the House race, incumbent Rep. Peggy Gibson, D-Huron, was leading with 29 percent of the vote.
Dick Werner, a Huron Republican, had 24 percent of the vote, while former Rep. Dale Hargens, a Huron Democrat, had 23 percent and Jay B.K. Slater, a De Smet Republican, had 22 percent of the vote.
