HURON — George Richard Wilson, 87, formerly of Miller, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.
The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Reck Funeral Home in Miller with visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller with military honors.
George Richard Wilson was born at home south of Ree Heights to John and Gladys (Howard) Wilson Sept. 3, 1925. He was drafted out of St. Lawrence High School to serve in World War II. He was shot and lost his left arm.
He returned to Miller and married Mary Jean Daley. They had three children. She died in 1955. In 1957 he married Mary Jane Gabriel. They had five children and were married for 55 years. He worked as register of deeds, Hand County treasurer and farmed. In 1969 they moved to Huron and in April they moved to Sioux Falls.
He is survived by eight children, Dick (Sharon) and Diane (Kurt) Enget, all of Sioux Falls, David (Gail) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Deb Hart of Huron and Tim (Cheryl), Rod (Michelle), Randy and Georgene (Mike) Becker, all of Sioux Falls; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joann (Richard) Kruger of Groton; and three sisters-in-law, Rita Rudloff of Huron, Gloria Clarke of Ottertail, Minn., and Susan Rasmussen of Kauhauna, Wis.
He was preceded in death by both wives; two brothers, Marvin and Howard; and a sister, Dorothy Nolz.
