ABERDEEN — Alexys Paige Helm Becker, 8, of Aberdeen, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen with the Revs. Marcia Sylvester and Tanya Rist officiating. Burial will be in Rockham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Visit thelenfuneralhome.com.
Alexys Paige Helm Becker was born Dec. 17, 2003, at Pierre to John and Melissa Becker. She lived a vibrant life until the age of 7. She attended O.M. Tiffany Elementary School in Aberdeen. She was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, which is a blood cancer that later formed acute myloid leukemia.
She spent most of the last two years in hospitals in Sioux Falls and Minneapolis. She loved people, life and animals. She was in dance class and enjoyed her horse.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Nicholas of Aberdeen; grandparents, Les (Audrey) Helm of Redfield, Connie (Terry) Hull of Aberdeen and Jim and Julie Becker of Rockham; and great-grandparents, Earl Schultz and Leona Becker of Redfield.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Helm, Weisz, Arlene Schultz and Milton Becker.
