The 23rd annual food drive for the Huron Salvation Army is under way. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 3, which consists of members of the Huron Police Department, Beadle County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and South Dakota Game Fish and Parks will be leading this effort.
Schools include all Huron Public Schools, Holy Trinity Catholic School and James Valley Christian School. This is a voluntary project designed to give the young people of this area an opportunity to help others with little or no inconvenience on their part or on the part of their school.
Items needed include canned goods (no home canned foods or expired cans please), boxed foods such as macaroni and cheese, cereal, etc, and paper items such as paper towels and toilet paper.
Children who wish to participate are asked to bring one of the previously mentioned items to school by Nov. 16.
Any area resident without school children may also donate to the food drive by simply stopping by their area school with their donation or dropping it off at the Salvation Army.
All donated goods will be used to assist less fortunate families in Beadle County. The food will be picked up on Friday. For the complete article see the 11-11-2012 issue.
