On Nov. 9, Lauren Dickson, Keistan Dubro, Gavin Machtemes and Kyle Wormstadt, all members of the Sunday school at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois, dropped off items at the Salvation Army food pantry.
The youth as well as Jodi Burma, Stephanie Dickson and Michelle Wormstadt started at 4 p.m. east of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and 61 miles later they finished in Huron a little after 7 p.m., collecting from more than 30 church families.
They had fun keeping track of every item that they picked up to earn scavenger hunt points so they, as a group, can try and beat it next year. After unloading all of the food at the food pantry, they were given a tour of the Salvation Army and were informed of all the different programs that the Salvation Army offers.
