WOONSOCKET — Robert “Bob” L. Weeldreyer, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket with the Rev. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial with military rites by the Woonsocket American Legion Post 29 will be in St. Wilfrid Catholic Cemetery at Woonsocket. Visitation will be at Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket today from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
Robert L. Weeldreyer was born Oct. 9, 1936, to Minert and Minnie (Wagner) Weeldryer in rural Sanborn County. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1954. He served in the Army in Germany. He married Shirley Wolf June 8, 1963. He worked on the Oahe Dam in Pierre, Huron Manufacturing and Concrete Curb and Paving in Denver. He started his own business and volunteered with Annunciation Housing Partners. He moved to Woonsocket and worked in construction and farming part time. He was a fisherman, hunter and camper and followed professional football, basketball and golf.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Tracy (Mark) Van Cleave of Denver; three grandchildren; and five siblings, Thelma Hennager of Rapid City, Bud of Sioux Falls, Ann Becker of Arkansas, Marleen Caffe of Rapid City and Darlene Cuppy of Wessington Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Roger, Elmer, Sally Griggs and Harvey.For the complete article see the 11-16-2012 issue.
