BRENTFORD — Lucille “Lucy” Styles, 63, of Brentford, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at home after a prolonged battle with cancer.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brentford Congregational UCC Church with the Rev. Jon Damaska officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery near Brentford. Visitation will be Monday with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield.
Lucille Masat was born Sept. 29, 1949, at Redfield to Lester and Eva (Bau) Masat. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1967 and from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. On May 18, 1968, she married Robert Styles at Redfield. They farmed and ranched in the Brentford area. She was a member of the Brentford Congregational UCC women’s fellowship, Order of the Eastern Star and a 4-H leader. She was the town clerk and relief postmaster and played bass in three bands.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Laura (Doug) Braun of Mellette and Tina (Mike) Birgen of Aberdeen; a son, Chris (Erica) of Brentford; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Ron) Becker of Elwood, Ind., and Esther (Greg) Preszler of Roscoe; and a sister-in-law, Judy (Mike) Stahly of Cavour.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leslie; and her parents-in-law, Lowell and Myrtle Styles.
