HIGHMORE — Marjorie Schuette, 94, of Highmore, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Highmore Health.
A graveside service was Nov. 26 at Highmore Cemetery.
Julia Marjorie Stingley was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Hyde County to Elmer and Vivian (Stoner) Stingley. She attended school in Bramhall Township and Highmore High School.
She married Alonzo Hurd in November 1935. For 39 years they owned and operated Hurd Funeral Home in Highmore. He died in 1969. She continued to operate the funeral home until 1974 when it was sold to Mike and Delores Luze.
On Dec. 10, 1974, she married William Schuette and they lived on a ranch north of Highmore. They moved into Highmore and in June 2000 entered Highmore Healthcare Center. He died in 2004.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association.
She is survived by two children, George (Sharon) Hurd of Nampa, Idaho, and Catherine (Lance) Lambert of Pierre; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Hill of Highmore.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; a brother, John Stingley; a sister, Elizabeth Welch; and a son-in-law, Jess Salathe.
