HURON — Dean A. Dennis, 74, of Huron, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Huron, with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kuhler Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dean Arnet Dennis was born on Sept. 18, 1938, in Huron to Arthur and Bernice (Paul) Dennis. He grew up in Doland and graduated from Doland High School in 1957. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. In January 1960, he enlisted in the Army, serving 26 months in Heidelberg, Germany.
He married Alison Root on Aug. 23, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron. They purchased a farm in the early 1970s. He also worked at Armour and Co. for 16 years and later for Hubbard Feeds. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching sports and morning card games at the Cavour Store.
He is survived by his wife, Alison, of Huron; two sons, Darrin (Brenda) Dennis of Castalia, Iowa, and Kent Dennis of Hankinson, N.D.; five grandchildren; a sister, Nonie (Francis) Noonan of Burnsville, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Ada Dennis of Prior Lake, Minn.; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Scott of Niobrara, Neb.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
