FAULKTON — Altha Stammer, 91, of Faulkton, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at The Meadows in Faulkton.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Church of Faulkton with the Rev. Bill Hoffmann officiating. Burial will follow in Miranda Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton.
Altha B. Schilter was born June 29, 1921, at Athol to Herman and Dora (Batteen) Schilter. She graduated from Athol High School. On Oct. 16, 1940, she married Clayton Wilhelm. They farmed in the Miranda area. He died in 1961. She married Glenn Stammer in 1974. They farmed near Miranda for six years, then retired to Faulkton. He died in 1997. She recently moved to The Meadows.
She was a member of the Happy Hustler’s Club, the Tuesday Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the United Church of Faulkton. She loved to crochet, raise chickens, garden and cook.
She is survived by a daughter, June Anderson of Dixon, Calif.; a son, Jack (Rita) Wilhelm of Rockham; a daughter-in-law, Pat Wilhelm of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rolland Wilhelm; her husbands; a sister, Ardis Schone; and three brothers, Melvin, Glen and Clarence.
