DE SMET ó Sharri L. Zell, 63, of De Smet, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in De Smet.
The funeral will be Monday at American Lutheran Church in De Smet at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Koeller officiating. Burial will follow in De Smet Cemetery. Visitation will be at Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Sharri Forbes was born June 15, 1949, at Watertown to Virgil and Mabel Forbes. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith. She grew up in the Spirit Lake area and attended Shady Lawn country school through the seventh grade and graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1967. She attended St. Johnís School of Nursing, graduating in 1970.
She married Rodney Zell July 5, 1970, near Willow Lake. She worked at the Good Samaritan Center in De Smet for 16 years then at Bell Medical as a clinic nurse. She also worked for a short time at Farmers and Merchants Bank in De Smet. In 1974, she was selected as the career woman of the year in De Smet. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in De Smet, ELCW, and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, and was a den mother. She entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in 2009.
She is survived by her mother of De Smet; two sons, Brent (Rebecca) of Savannah, Ga., and Darin (Amy) of De Smet; a sister, Linda (Darrel) Mandernach of De Smet; two brothers, Larry of Willow Lake and Lyle (Cheryl) of Bancroft; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Darlene Reuter; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Forbes.
