HURON — Eugene Kingdon, 101, of Huron, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Holland officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Eugene Kingdon was born Sept. 15, 1911, to Henry and Elsie (Pidge) Kingdon near Hitchcock. In 1916, the family moved to Huron where he lived the rest of his life. He attended grade school and high school at Huron and graduated from Huron College in 1933.
On Dec. 25, 1936, he married Edythe Snow at Huron. He was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron, during which time he was a member of the choir for more than 50 years. He will be remembered by many for his singing at numerous weddings and funerals.
Following his retirement from NorthWestern Public Service Company after 40 years as an accountant, he did considerable volunteer work through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He volunteered at Natural Resource Conservation Services at the federal building for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edythe; a brother, Robert Kingdon; a sister, Ruth Greeves; and a granddaughter, Alicia.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (Lee) Kingdon of Palatine, Ill., and William Kingdon of Gallup, N.M.For the complete article see the 12-09-2012 issue.
