Huron man indicted on three dozen sex-related offenses

HURON — A Beadle County grand jury has indicted John G. Rose of Huron on three dozen counts of sex-related offenses.

The Beadle County State’s Attorney’s office said Rose, 65, has been indicted on 12 counts of possession or manufacture of child pornography, eight counts of aggravated incest, eight counts of rape in the first degree and eight counts of sexual contact with a child under 16.

First-degree rape itself carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Rose is free from custody after posting bond.

The indictment is a result of an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Huron Police Department and the state Division of Criminal Investigation.

The defendant’s next court appearance is set for Jan. 15.
