DE SMET — Elaine Larson, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls.
The funeral will be Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in De Smet at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Frankman officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Elaine Margaret Doyle was born March 11, 1930, at Erwin to Bernard and Nora (Johannesen) Doyle. She graduated from Erwin High School in 1948. She married James Larson Nov. 21, 1949, at Bryant. She was a certified nursing assistant for five years at the Good Samaritan Center and 35 years at the De Smet hospital. She was an emergency medical technician for the De Smet Rescue Unit for eight years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the altar society and taught catechism. She loved baking.
She is survived by her husband; seven children, Mike (Carol) of Big Arm, Mont., Julie (Tom) Cossette of Maple Grove, Minn., Jill (Roger) Teague of Phoenix, Ariz., Jan of De Smet, Jane (Bill) Barnett of Sioux Falls, Andrew (Kathy) of Sioux Falls and Ryan (Marie) of De Smet; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Joe and Jim, both of Erwin.
