HURON — Gladys “Tootie” Erickson, 82, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church with burial in Ideal Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. or one hour prior to the service.
Gladys Darlene Dietz was born to Edward and Lizzie (Braland) Dietz March 14, 1930, at Garner, Iowa. They live at Wessington and Huron. On Dec. 5, 1946, she married Arthur Erickson at Huron. She worked at Ravens, ran a home daycare and worked for Pugsley Construction. She received her general equivalency diploma. She was a member of American Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, bowling and cards.
She is survived by five children, Carol (Gus) Erickson of Aberdeen, Sandra (Ken) Erickson of Mountain City, Tenn., Rick (Joette) of Huron, Vickie Brodkorb of Wessington Springs and Julie (Jeff) Bryant of Belle Fourche; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Norma Bonnes of Sioux Falls, Betty (Laurel) Liedtke of Huron, Marjorie (Richard) Freske of Huron and Charlotte (Dan) Hammer of Surprise, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Mark Brodkorb; two brothers, Orlie (Hazel) and Robert (Doris); and three brothers-in-law, L.V. Bonnes, Jake Hofer and Otis Parmely.
