Lady All-Stars win in overtime

HURON ó A goal by Anna Scheibe in overtime gave the Huron Lady All-Stars a 5-4 victory against Sioux Falls on Sunday at Bergman Arena.

The Lady All-Stars had the first four goals in the game.

Scheibe and Jordan Miller had goals for Huron in the first period. Samantha Kirton earned an assist on Millerís goal.

Back-to-back goals by Hope Goethel gave the Lady All-Stars a 4-0 lead in the second period. Both were assisted by Kirton.

Sioux Falls narrowed its deficit to 4-2 heading into the third period with goals by Maddie Elkins and Alex Bettmeng. Hanna Mutschelknaus had the assist on Elkinís goal, which was short-handed, while Taylor Dawley and Elkins assisted on Bettmengís goal, which came on a power play.

Mutschelknaus scored on an unassisted shot to narrow the deficit to just a goal and a second goal by Bettmeng evened the score with less than a minute to play in regulation. She scored on a pass by Mutschelknaus to force overtime.

Erin Scheibe had 20 saves to earn the win for Huron, while Brittany Corcoran stopped 41 of the 46 shots she faced for Sioux Falls.

The Lady All-Stars will now be off until they participate in the Delano Tournament on Jan. 11-13.
