Blackhawks rally to collect victory

WOONSOCKET — Nick Miller had a game-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Sanborn Central-Woonsocket to a 62-48 comeback win over Andes Central Thursday at Woonsocket. The win keeps the Blackhawks’ record a perfect 5-0 on the season.

Miller, a senior forward, had 12 of his 18 points in the first half, but the Blackhawks trailed by one, 23-22, at halftime. Sanborn Central-Woonsocket exploded for 23 points in the third quarter led by junior guard Tyler Krueger who poured in 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Krueger finished with 15 on the night. The Blackhawks led 45-37 at the end of the third, and outscored the Eagles 17-11 in the final frame to secure the win.

Gabe Cournoyer and Zach Cournoyer each scored 11 points to lead Andes Central. Aaron Swanson had 10 points for the Eagles who fall to 2-3 on the year.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket returns to action Saturday when they play Mt. Vernon-Plankinton at Plankinton.
