JVC inks win against Blackhawks

FORESTBURG — James Valley Christian emerged with a 73-55 victory against Sanborn Central-Woonsocket on Thursday in a battle between two undefeated teams.

The Vikings seized control early by outscoring the Blackhawks 20-2 in the opening quarter. Sanborn Central-Woonsocket wouldn’t be able to recover, as JVC led 36-17 at the half and 49-29 heading into the fourth quarter.

Adam Hofer had a game-high 29 points to lead the Vikings, who improved to 6-0. Nathan Wedel and Andrew Ulvestad added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Nick Miller was the lone player to reach double figures for the Blackhawks, with 21 points. Tyler Krueger finished with nine points, while Davion Brooks added eight points.

Brooks also had eight rebounds to help Sanborn Central-Woonsocket to a 36-27 advantage on the boards.

Both teams return to action today in the opening round of the 281 Conference Tournament in Wolsey.

Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, which is now 7-1, will face Sunshine Bible Academy at 2:30 p.m., while James Valley Christian will play Iroquois at 4 p.m.

MILLER — Lee Sivertsen had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Miller to a 64-52 victory against Sully Buttes on Thursday.

Preston Blackwell also reached double figures for the Rustlers (4-2), with 11 points. Haydn Herman and Beau Keeter each added eight points.

Brayden Wittler had a game-high 30 points, which included seven 3-pointers, for the Chargers.
