WOLSEY— The 281 Conference tournament tipped off Friday with the quarterfinals or opening round of the girls’ bracket.
Wessington Springs Lady Spartans, the No. 3 seed, defeated No. 6 Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots 66-56 to advance to Monday’s championship semifinals at Huron Arena.
In the second game of the day Highmore-Harrold Pirates defeated Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds 50-7.
The Pirates will square off Monday at 6:30 p.m. against the Lady Spartans while the Lady Patriots will play the Lady Warbirds in the consolation semifinals at 3:30 p.m.
In the other quarterfinal games the Sanborn Central-Woonsocket Blackhawks defeated Iroquois Lady Chiefs 64-23 while the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings defeated the Sunshine Bible Academy Lady Crusaders 48-24.
The Blackhawks will play the Lady Vikings on Monday at 8 p.m. in the championship semifinals.
The other consolation semifinal game will pit the Lady Chiefs against the Lady Crusaders at 5 p.m. Monday.
