Doris M. Rubendall, 86, of Highmore

HIGHMORE — Doris M. Rubendall, 86, of Highmore, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Pierre.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Highmore with the Rev. Kori Lehrkamp officiating. Burial will be in Highmore Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today, with a 4 p.m. prayer service at the church. Funeral arrangements were announced by Luze Funeral Home in Highmore.

Doris Marie Noe was born May 7, 1926, in Beadle County south of Iroquois to Roy Ezra and Ruth Mae (Whites) Noe. In 1933 her family moved to Hyde County. She graduated from Highmore High School in 1944.

She married Quentin Theodore Rubendall on July 2, 1950, in Clark. She worked a variety of jobs. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1955, serving on the administrative council for 61 years, from 1951-2012. In 1988, she joined the Highmore Senior Center and served on its board for many years. In 2004, she received the Presidential Volunteer Award.

She is survived by two children, RADM (Ret) Richard (Susi) Rubendall of Tucson, Ariz., and Sandi (Bill) Shay of Pierre; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Noe of Bellingham, Wash.; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Donna June Olson, both of Pierre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Shirley Pullman.
