Beverly Hiles, 74, of De Smet, and formerly of Huron

DE SMET — Beverly Hiles, 74, of De Smet, and formerly of Huron, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home. Her funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with family present will be Sunday (today) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Monday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the De Smet Fire Department.

Beverly Hiles was born Beverly Jean Schultz, daughter of Glenn and Dorothy (Smith) Schultz, on June 17, 1938, in Conde. As a young girl she moved with her family to Huron where she attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1956.

On Oct. 19, 1957, Bev married Milburn “Mel” Hiles at the First Methodist Church in Ortonville, Minn. Bev was also baptized during this period of time at the church. They lived in Huron until 1966 when they moved to Palmdale, Calif. They returned to Huron in 1976. Bev was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Huron.

Her many interests include baking, playing games and watching baseball on television, especially the Minnesota Twins. Bev was an avid reader and enthusiastically followed the activities of her grandchildren.

Bev is survived by one daughter, Natalie (William) Lamont of Houston, Texas; one son, Gregory (Diane) Hiles of De Smet; seven grandchildren, Brian Lamont of Houston, Texas, Sean Lamont of Dallas, Texas, Chelsea (Bubba Hildebrandt) Hiles of Rapid City, S.D., Taylor Hiles of De Smet, S.D., Misty (Brandon) Heck of Isabel, S.D., Danielle Cronkhite of Hot Springs, S.D., and Darcie (Rob) Lee of De Smet, S.D.; three great grandchildren, Kuper Heck, Kenlea Heck, and Korbi Heck; one sister, Marilyn Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mel, on Feb. 9, 2001; one sister, Donna Olson; and one brother-in-law, Glenn Anderson.
