WOONSOCKET — Larry J. Sandness, 63 of Woonsocket, died at his home, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket with the Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Burial will be in St Wilfrid’s Catholic Cemetery, Woonsocket.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Basham Funeral Service in Woonsocket.
Larry Joseph Sandness was born Sept. 25, 1949, at Mitchell to Elmer and Joyce (Heljeson) Sandness. He attended the Heljeson and Gettysburg grade school each for 4 years, and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1967, where he was the student manager and homecoming king. He worked for the Runestad Brothers and in the 1970s went to work for Parker Implements.
He married Jeannie Meyer in 1973. She died in 1977. He continued with Parker Implements until its closing in 1984. He worked for Lincoln Auto in Huron several years, then started work for Sanborn County Highway Department as a county supervisor until 1993. He was a general handyman in Woonsocket. He was a Woonsocket volunteer fireman; and enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a sister, Kay (Robert) Stange of Woonsocket; three brothers, Gary of Woonsockcet, Mike of Letcher, and Tim of Mitchell; many nieces and nephews and an aunt.
