Tigers defeat Brookings

BROOKINGS The Huron Tigers collected their second victory against a ranked opponent in as many nights on Saturday, with a 52-46 win against the Brookings Bobcats.

The victory against the No. 4-ranked team in the state was the third in a row for the Tigers, who are now 8-3.

After outscoring the Bobcats 15-8 in the opening quarter, Huron was able carry a 24-18 lead into the half. Both teams finished with the same points total in each of the final two quarters, handing the victory to the Tigers, who defeated No. 3-ranked Sioux Falls Lincoln on Friday at Huron Arena.

Justin Decker turned in a game-high 14 points to lead Huron, while JP Noonan added 11 points, including all three of the 3-pointers for the Tigers. Adam Zwanziger finished with nine points, while Will Carr, Lucas Morrison and Caleb Carr all had six points.

Huron was dominant on the boards, with 31 rebounds, compared to just 17 for the Bobcats. Zwanziger had a team-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Kaleb Vig had 13 points to lead Brookings, which dropped to 8-3. Zach Kress also reached double figures with 10 points, while Braxton Carlson and Konner Beste each had seven points.

Huron will return to action on Tuesday, with an 8 p.m. game against Mitchell, which will serve as the second game of a doubleheader at Huron Arena.
